Lakehead students awarded Women in Mining NW Ontario scholarships
Two students from the Faculty of Engineering have been awarded scholarships by Women in Mining Northwestern Ontario, an organization that promotes the advancement of women in their mineral and mining careers.
Amanda Pacholczak (pictured right), a third-year Chemical Engineering student, and Grace Bingham (pictured left), a second-year student in Electrical Engineering, will both receive a $3,000 scholarship.
“I am incredibly grateful to have been acknowledged for this award and I am excited to continue pursuing a career in the mining industry of Northwestern Ontario,” said Bingham.
“This is a fantastic achievement for our students at Lakehead to receive this recognition and support from Women in Mining Northwestern Ontario. It is critically important to convince more female students to choose engineering, and to ensure more women reach their potential in the profession with financial assistance, guidance and mentorship from those now working in industry,” said Janusz Kozinski, Dean of Engineering at Lakehead University.
