Electrical Engineering
Overview
Electrical engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electrical Engineers design economically viable and ecologically balanced electronic and electrical equipment and systems. That includes automatic control systems, computers, audio systems, communication devices, power generation and distribution networks.
Electrical Engineers are involved in all stages of product or system development, from manufacturing and testing to maintenance and troubleshooting in the field. The career of an electrical engineer is often centered on a combination of these work areas, and some choose to move into specialized areas such as consulting, entrepreneurial product design, marketing, or project management.
The curriculum in the Electrical Engineering degree program is designed to teach fundamental physical sciences, as well as the more practical areas of design and operation of industrial control systems, communication systems, electronic circuits, and the generation and distribution of electrical power.
