Dr. Elshaer named Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering
Dr. Ahmed Elshaer, from the Department of Civil Engineering, has been named a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (FCSCE).
This is one of society’s highest honours, recognizing members for their outstanding and sustained contributions to the field. Dr. Elshaer received this prestigious accolade at the CSCE 2025 Annual Conference in Winnipeg at the end of May.
This honour acknowledges Dr. Elshaer’s significant research in structural and wind engineering as well as his extensive service to CSCE and beyond. He has demonstrated significant leadership by co-chairing the annual CSCE conference for four years and serving as Vice-Chair of the CSCE Structures Division. He also serves as an Associate Editor for multiple journals and as a trusted evaluating committee member for funding agencies, including NSERC and CFI.
“We are always proud to see our colleagues receiving external recognition, which helps to build the wider reputation of our faculty and our commitment to research intensification in all our departments,” said Janusz Kozinski, Dean of Engineering at Lakehead University.
