HOW TO APPLY

The following steps take you through the process of submitting an application for one of our undergraduate programs. 

If you are interested in graduate programs (Master’s or PhD), please go to the Faculty of Graduate Studies website that includes all the information you need to apply including admissions requirements.

STEP 1: Choose Your Program

Choose your program by reviewing our Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) options including admissions requirements:

STEP 2: Choose Your Pathway

High School Pathways

If you are applying from High School with admissions requirements you begin in Year 1 of our Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) programs.

If you do not meet all the admissions requirements, we offer our one-year Pre-Eng program to prepare you for your BEng.

College Transfer Pathway

If you are have your Engineering Technology Diploma you can enter in Year 3 of our Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) programs after taking our summer College-to-University Transition Program.

STEP 3: Choose Additional Options

Add to your experience with Co-op and MBA options. We offer you the opportunity to apply directly into a BEng with Co-op or BEng with MBA program. You can also select this option after you enroll with us or at any time during your studies.

STEP 4: Submit Your Application

You should apply online through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).

If you are entering from an Ontario High School, please use the 101 OUAC application.

All other applicants – including College Transfer and International applicants – should complete the 105 OUAC application.

STEP 5: Send Supporting Documents

High School applicants in Ontario are not required to submit transcripts.

For College Transfer applicants, once you have applied, please send transcripts from all the post-secondary institutions you have attended to: docs.admission@lakeheadu.ca. If you are currently enrolled in the final year of your engineering technology program, please provide updated transcripts showing your fall term (second-last term) marks and winter term (final term) course registration as soon as possible. High School transcripts are not required for College Transfer applicants.

STEP 6: Track Your Application

After submitting your application, you can track its status through the OUAC or Lakehead University MyInfo website (online student information portal). You will receive an admission decision once your application has been reviewed.

STEP 7: Accept Your Conditional Offer

Once you receive a conditional offer of admission from Lakehead University, you will need to accept it by the deadline specified in your offer letter.

College Transfer applicants only will also receive an Admissions Letter within two weeks of accepting their conditional offer providing details of the summer College-to-University program and details of any additional or “make-up” courses that they will be required to take during their 2-year BEng program.
