As an engineering student in Thunder Bay you’ll be part of an academic community that includes nine faculties and almost 8,000 students on a campus situated in the heart of the City of Thunder Bay.

Fields and green space surround the campus and all buildings are conveniently located together in one location creating a true campus feel. Many of the University’s buildings are grouped around Lake Tamblyn and its residence complexes hug the banks of the McIntyre River.

At our Thunder Bay campus, you can leave the big city behind and spend your free time exploring the natural beauty of the rugged Canadian wilderness with an outstanding range of outdoor activities on offer. You’ll have incredible opportunities to explore, go on adventures, and try out new things for the first time. Hiking, camping, horseback riding, ice climbing, snowboarding, fishing, mountain biking, sailing, and much more, are all on offer in and around Thunder Bay.

Located on the northwest shore of Lake Superior, the City of Thunder Bay is built around the harbour of the largest inland port in Canada. Under the watchful gaze of the majestic Sleeping Giant, Thunder Bay is home to over 110,000 people. As the metropolitan hub for Northwestern Ontario, Thunder Bay is easy to get to from any location. Not only are we served by major and regional airlines like WestJet, Air Canada and Porter, but we are also directly on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Summer activities include sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, rock climbing, swimming, jogging, cycling, camping, fishing, hiking, and golf which abound in and around numerous lakes in the area. Thunder Bay’s famed Sleeping Giant was voted #1, the People’s Choice in the Seven Wonders of Canada contest.
