Civil Engineering professor secures MTO grant for bridge design research
Dr. Ahmed Bediwy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University, has secured a $50,000 grant from Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation.
Dr. Bediwy was successful in achieving this grant through the highly-competitive Highway Infrastructure Innovation Funding Program (HIIFP).
This provincial government funding is designed to encourage the academic community to conduct research that will contribute to the generation of innovative solutions to current technical challenges experienced during the construction and maintenance of the province’s highway infrastructure network.
Dr. Bediwy’s project will develop a simplified design methodology for galvanic anodes in new and deficient bridges.
“This impressive grant is a recognition of Dr. Bediwy’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge in the field of civil engineering. We eagerly await the positive impact his work will have on shaping the future design of bridges in our province,” said Janusz Kozinski, Dean of Engineering at Lakehead University.
