Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

Dr. Sultan Siddiqui, P.Eng. has been appointed as the Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering.

The appointment period is from March 1, 2025 through to February 29, 2028. 

Dr. Siddiqui is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, and his research interests include nonlinear dynamics, finite elements, multi-body dynamics, robotics, controls, and software development.

He studied for his undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering degree here at Lakehead, before gaining a Master’s and PhD from the University of Waterloo.

“Dr. Siddiqui is a dynamic, effective, and collegial academic leader, who has undertaken the role of interim Chair with great gusto. I know he will do an excellent job over the next three years as Department Chair, as we introduce new programming and pathways, establish our hub in Barrie, and continue to expand our research enterprise,” said Dr. Janusz Kozinski, Dean of Engineering at Lakehead University.
